GMW Bioscience is a CRO based in the Southeastern of Spain (Valencia), one of the most important Spanish agricultural areas. However GMW also covers the North of Spain with its activities through a test site located in Santiago de Compostela and other regions from the Valencian head quarter. The personnel (mainly formed by agricultural scientists and biologists) has recognized experience in the conduct of efficacy trials, with wide experience in the efficacy of biological products, residues in plant, soil dissipation and soil accumulation as well as ecotoxicological studies conducted in compliance with current European guidelines (OECD, SETAC, EPPO, CEB, etc.). GMW conducts Field Residue trial in all regions of Spain in all major as well as in minor crops. Through GLP Environmental fate studies GMW investigates the interactions between compounds and environment. Soil dissipation studies provide estimates of the time needed for 50% or 90% dissipation (DT50 or DRT90) of the active ingredient under field conditions. GMW also carries out field and semifield studies on honey bees under GLP to assess general effects of plant protection products on bees or to investigate more specific questions such as the impact on the brood development in honey bee colonies exposed to treatments as well as the longterm development of exposed colonies. This kind of studies is conducted in cooperation with our German partner, IBACON. A record in the last years of more than 450 successfully conducted efficacy trials, residue studies, and others provides you a clear picture of GMW significance as CRO providing services for the European industry.
Geographic Areas Cover
GMW Bioscience offers knowledge of national requirements to perform a wide range of efficacy studies (GEP) for registration, product development and demonstration. Efficacy studies are conducted in compliance with current European guidelines as those from EPPO, CEB, BBA or according to specific requirements. Appropriate site selection, climate and cropping regions are very important factors for the successful conduct of efficacy trials. Plant protection products such as fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and growth regulators are tested on small plots with natural or artificial infestation of the target pests. The works (trial setup, application, assessment, harvest) are performed in a farmer field or at the field station.
The Testing Facility and headquarter is located in Valencia (Benimuslem), with a test site in North of Spain (Santiago de Compostela). The geographical area covered for the conduct of studies includes the whole country. GMW personnel has experience in all crops growing in the Mediterranean Area such as Alfalfa, Cauliflower, Grapes, Nectarine, Peppers, Almond, Celery, Kaki, Olive, Plum, Apricot, Cherry, Kiwi, Onion, Potatoes, Artichoke, Cucumber, Leek, Orange, Quince, Beans, Eggplant, Lettuce, P.persica, Rice, Cabbage, Fig Loquat, Peaches, Spinach, Carrot, Grapes, Mandarin, Peanut, Strawberry, Melon, Nectarine, Peppers, Tigernut, Tomato, Wheat, Zucchini, Lettuce, Water melon, Tobacco, Apple, Maize, Peaches, Rice, Pear, Apricot, Nectarine, Plum, Olive, Grapes. Even some trials were also conducted in the Canary Islands by means of an agreement with the Canary Islands Institute of Agricultural Research (ICIA).
